Day by Day

Itinerary

  1. Day 1 - Nairobi → Lake Elementaita

    Drive to this Rift Valley treasure, arriving mid-morning. Bird walk to spot avocet, Klaas's cuckoo, feral lovebird, glossy ibis, black heron, red-billed teal and more around the alkaline shore.

  2. Day 2 - Lake Nakuru National Park

    Full day birding and game drives in Nakuru — flamingos, great white and pink-backed pelicans, African fish eagle, long-crested eagle, and (with luck) Verreaux's eagle on the escarpment. [CONFIRM]

  3. Day 3 - Lake Naivasha

    Transfer to Lake Naivasha. Boat trip and shoreline birding for African fish eagle, pied and giant kingfishers, herons, jacanas and weavers. Afternoon walk at Crescent Island for a leisurely close-up. [CONFIRM]

  4. Day 4 - Lake Naivasha → Lake Baringo

    Drive north to Lake Baringo, one of Kenya's premier birding sites, with over 470 recorded species. Afternoon boat trip and shore birding for Hemprich's hornbill, white-faced scops owl, Jackson's hornbill. [CONFIRM]

  5. Day 5 - Lake Baringo continued birding

    Full day of guided birding around Lake Baringo and the surrounding escarpment, with morning and late afternoon walks. Optional Kakamega Forest extension can replace this day. [CONFIRM]
